The Costa Dorada, meaning Golden Coast, is situated on the coast of Spain and extends from the city of Barcelona to the south of Tarragona and sits in the region of Catalonia. The colour of the fine sand on its beautiful beaches is what has given this popular holiday destination its name. Located on the Dominican Republic’s northern Amber Coast, this is a quiet area of Spain but you are just down the road from Playa Dorada and it’s just a short taxi ride into lively Puerto Plata.

For those who aren’t quite brave enough to try the Dragon Khan, the rest of the park is divided into five themed lands – China, Polynesia, Mexico, the Mediterranean and the Far West. In each land you will find thrill rides, water slides, live entertainment, restaurants and shops. As well as the theme park, the area is also renound for their golf courses meaning there are plenty around for all golf fans. As Salou is so close to Barcelona you can also take a trip there to go and see the astounding architecture, famous fountains and Gothic cathedral.
Pineda is situated in a great location if visiting fascinating cities and tourist spots is what you plan to do while on holiday in Costa Dorada. The Aquopolis water park is one of the main reasons why so many families visit this resort. Besides the many water rides, there’s an aquatic obstacle course, a wave pool, bumper boats, mini – golf, a small zoo and numerous snack bars. Don’t be fooled though, Aquopolis doesn’t just appeal to children, many adults have been known to have a great day out at this attraction.
Cambrils is another great resort that suits everyone regardless of who you are with or why you chose to holiday in Costa Dorada. There are plenty of sports and leisure activities for all ages from ballroom dancing and beach volleyball to golf and go – karting.
A holiday in Costa Dorada has plenty to offer with so much to see and do. The main regional city of Tarragona was an important army base in Roman times and today boasts historical ruins and a variety of museums. You can also go on excursions to vineyards, olive groves and almond plantations, take in the quaint medieval city of Montblanc with its fine Gothic church or visit the Disney style entertainment centre at the Port Aventura theme park.
