The Importance Of Travel Insurance

June 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Holidays are an exciting time of the year because it means a week or two of relaxing and having fun without the normal stresses of everyday life. However, unfortunately, sometimes things do go wrong even when you are on holiday. Flight cancellations, lost luggage and illnesses can all make what should have been a relaxing time into a very stressful one. This can be made even worse for those who thought that they wouldn’t need travel insurance.

It’s very easy to think that you can get away with not buying travel insurance and most of the time this probably is the case. However, it simply isn’t worth it if something does go wrong because you can be left with a bill for thousands of pounds and in some countries you won’t even get medical aid without any insurance.

You may not even get a chance to get on the aeroplane before you find yourself needing your travel insurance. Sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances flights can get cancelled. This means that you lose money on your accommodation, car rental and chances are you are going to need to stay in a hotel until you can get on another flight. This doesn’t just make a bad start to your holiday because it is very frustrating, but you also stand to lose a lot of money. Whereas it won’t make up for lost time at least you know if you have travel insurance that you can claim back the money you lost which is a bit of compensation.

People tend to be a lot more relaxed on holiday and do things that they normally wouldn’t do. For example, water sports are very common on holiday but it is unlikely that you would do something like that at home. This means that the chances of you getting injured are a lot higher and if you need to go to hospital for any reason you can be left with a large bill if you haven’t got travel insurance.

You can find some great deals for travel insurance nowadays because there are so many different companies competing against each other for customers. This means that you don’t have to spend an absolute fortune on it so even if you don’t end up using it it’s not a major loss. Unfortunately there are lots of things that can go wrong while you are away on holiday or are travelling. It is definitely worth paying a little extra money for the security of knowing that you will be covered if something does happen.

Sailing Makes Unique Holiday

March 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

sailing makes unique holidayIf you are looking for a completely different kind of holiday this year then something to consider is a sailing holiday. This is quite an unusual concept and it is not something that many people would have even considered before but it a great way of enjoying time abroad whilst learning a new skill at the same time.

Sailing is something that many people around the world thoroughly enjoy for a wide range of reasons. Not only is it fun and relaxing but it is a very unique way of discovering places around the world that you would never otherwise be able to see.

The great thing about these holidays is that it doesn’t matter how good or bad at sailing you are. Some people embark on them having never tried it before whereas others may be a lot more confident with it. Most companies offer a range of courses which vary in length depending how much practice you want or how much experience you have with sailing. This means that you can fit the lessons around you and your holiday needs very easily.

Once you have mastered the art of sailing you will be able to practice your new skill as much or as little as you like. If you own your own boat this is very handy as you will be able to go on sailing holidays whenever you want. This is likely to prove popular because there aren’t many types of holidays that you can enjoy with your friends and/or family from the privacy of your own boat. This also means that you can go wherever you want and stay there for however long you want.

Sailing can be enjoyed at any time, not just for holidays which is what makes it such a worthwhile skill to use. Taking a boat out for a day with friends and family is a very different way of spending your time. This would be a particularly good thing to do if you have friends or family visiting you and you want to do something unique to entertain them and show them around.

Sailing holidays can be enjoyed all around the world at any time during the year. You don’t have to worry about getting bored either because obviously you are free to step onto dry land at any time and go and explore the area you have just sailed to.

Reasons To Stay In A Villa While On Holiday In Cyprus

March 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment

reasons to stay in a villa while on holiday in menorcaHolidays are the thing that everyone looks forward to the most every year. A week or two of sun, sea, relaxing and having fun is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face. An increasingly popular holiday destination is Cyprus as it has everything from sun and sea to relaxing restaurants and clubs.

The only thing that can sometimes put a downer on an otherwise excellent holiday is a bad hotel. The best way to prevent this from happening is to completely illuminate any chance of problems occurring in the first place. A holiday rental home is an excellent option regardless of whether you own it or are renting it from someone for a couple weeks. Bearing this in mind it is hardly surprising that so many people are now choosing to stay in Cyprus villas instead of hotels.

When staying in Cyprus villa you don’t have to worry about check – in and check – out times so can make up your own schedule. Staying in a holiday rental home also means that you are free to come and go as you please. You are restricted in some hotels, especially the smaller ones as they may lock their doors after a certain time.

You also have a lot more privacy and independence when staying in Cyprus villas. You don’t have to worry about how much noise you are making or how much noise the people in the room next to you are making. You don’t have to worry about house – keeping knocking on your door at 9am every morning or receiving a hefty bill at the end of your stay for phone calls, room service or the mini bar.

Glass bottom boat trips are very popular with people visiting the island because they are a very unique way of exploring. Sometimes it can be hard to see the sea life on boat tours because you might not be sitting on the edge or the animals may be too deep in the water. However, glass bottom boats mean that everyone can see things that you wouldn’t normally be able to see and therefore provide a thoroughly enjoyable day out for everyone.

It is common for Cyprus villas to have facilities such as swimming pools, tennis, bars and activities so you don’t have to worry about getting bored or running out of things to do.

As with any island, water sports are a must when on Cyprus holidays. There are plenty of activities to choose from so whether you are a beginner or an expert there will be something for you.

You are also more likely to make friends with fellow holiday makers when staying in Cyprus villas as it’s a close knit community. However, it’s not so close that if you want to do your own thing you can’t. Overall, staying in a holiday rental home is a great way of ensuring that you have a brilliant holiday and it is more than likely that you will want to go back to the same place the following year.

Visit Sunny Florida

February 22, 2008 · 2 Comments

visit sunny floridaIf you are looking for a USA holiday that is going to leave you wanting more, then a visit to Miami, Florida is called for. Probably due to its mild climate all year round and endless access to the ocean, Miami was ranked the nation’s number one Healthiest City by a magazine in 2002.

With some of the world’s top sporting facilities, sparkling waters and top attractions, Miami attracts thousands of visitors every year from all over the globe. Apart from the most obvious tourist spot, Disney World, Florida has so much to offer. If theme parks aren’t your thing then a USA holiday in Miami will suit you perfectly.

Why not pay a visit to Miami Metro Zoo where you will be able to see hyenas, tigers, lions, leopards, bears, camels, giraffes, zebras, elephants, rhinos, gorillas, kangaroos, crocodiles and much more. There are also playgrounds and water play areas as well as wildlife shows, animal talks, animal meet and greet sessions and other activities.

For true nature lovers the Everglades National Park is an absolute must when on any USA holiday. It is the largest subtropical wilderness in the US boasting rare and endangered species such as the American crocodile and the Florida panther. You can go on boat tours of the park or camp there if you would prefer to make a few days of it.

The Venetian Pool which was originally a rock quarry is a popular spot for those wishing to relax while on their USA holiday. Situated in a residential area of Coral Gables it was used as a source of coral rock for construction during the early years of Coral Gables until it was turned into a public pool. The pool is surrounded by several Spanish style buildings, a garden patio and a grotto which means there is plenty around to keep you busy for the day.

Being surrounded by so much water it is inevitable that water sports are a very popular activity when in Miami. You can participate in windsurfing, kite surfing, scuba diving, sailing, surfing, kayaking and pretty much any other water sports you can think of while on your USA holiday.

You will find a large variety of restaurants along the seafront of Miami Beach from fine dining to laid back fast food. Whatever you fancy you are greeting by stunning sea views which is the perfect accompaniment to any meal.

Zante

February 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

zanteZante has two very different sides to it; the hustle and bustle of the busy club scene and the historical and cultural aspect which appeals to those with an ‘explorer’ extinct in them. Whichever category you are in, the beauty and tradition of the island is likely to capture the hearts of all those who visit Zante.

 Activities

Zante offers everything you would expect from one of the Greek islands – swimming, water – sports, bowling, tennis and much more. As well as this there are plenty of boat tours available from local tour operators.

Nightlife

Zante is a lively and energetic island offering a vast array of bars and clubs. Argasi and Laganas are the liveliest resorts which are more suitable for the younger crowd. Laganas is the centre of the clubbing scene with popular places including Pink Panther, Zeros and Cocktails and Dreams. As well as this there are dozens of bars and clubs along the Laganas strip providing a range of different music. This definitely is not the place to go if you want a good night’s sleep but you are guaranteed fun and excitement.

Eating Out

You will find a large assortment of restaurants in Zante. There are plenty of places to get traditional British food and the all important cooked breakfast the morning after the night before. If you fancy something a bit diverse, whichever resort you are at you will find traditional Greek restaurants along the seafront. This provides beautiful views as the sun goes down and in traditional Greek style the atmosphere is friendly and full of spirit. Customary music and dancing will be put on with guests encouraged to take part.

Where to Stay

If you are going to Zante to party then Argasi and Laganas are recommended as you will be right in the centre of everything. Laganas strip has many hotels which are close to shops, clubs, pubs, restaurants and the beach.

Some of the quieter family resorts are Alikanas, Kalamaki and Vassilikos. All of these resorts offer a variety of hotels, apartments and villas. Many of them offer facilities for children and provide activities to keep them busy in the day while parents relax by the pool.

Attractions

Famous for its turtles, a turtle boat trip is a must. These can be booked through local tour operators which normally have offices located along busy streets. The prices are reasonable and most companies guarantee you will see turtles or you get your money back.  You can also book boat trips to the Blue Caves which are famous for their stunning shade of blue seas and rock formations. Some tour operators let you jump off the boat and swim around the caves.

The most famous beach in Zante is Smugglers Cove. The crystal clear waters and white sand creates stunning scenery along this private and secluded beach. You can only access the beach by boat but it’s well worth the trip as you can explore the ship wreck that was washed up onto the shore over 20 years ago.

One of Zante’s best kept secrets is the island of Agios Sostis at the southern tip of Laganas Bay. It is accessible through a walkway which makes a pleasant walk to the island. There is a club on the island called Cameo Club. However, the real beauty is the surprise you have when you arrive on the island. A beautiful, secluded and quiet beach is complimented by a live DJ and bar providing all kinds of refreshments. It’s hard to believe you’re only minutes away from the madness of Laganas when you’re relaxing on this stunning and picturesque beach.
