Every person and every travel company will have their own different version of their top places to go on holidays. This means that you will never be able to get a list of the top 10 holiday destination that is truly accurate and representative of the population. The main reason for this is because everyone has different tastes and opinions as to what makes a good holiday. Although the following destinations may not officially have been names one of the best places to visit, they do come very highly regarded and come top of many people’s polls.
The first destination many people choose to go on their holidays is Croatia. There are many different reasons for this but the main one is probably down to the fact that is has thousands of islands for holiday makers to choose from when deciding where to go. Not only is there an abundance of choice when it comes to deciding where to stay, but this is perfectly complimented by unspoilt coastlines, tropical Mediterranean sunshine and plenty of history and culture.
Another popular choice for those going on their holidays is Bulgaria. Although it is a very small country it offers plenty of things to do and is very quickly becoming very popular amongst tourists from all over the world. From a beautiful beach resort to history and culture there is bound to be something for everyone in this picturesque country.
It is safe to say that with over 35 million people visiting Las Vegas every year it is a very popular place for those who are looking for holidays with a difference. Although you will be unable to escape the bright lights of the casinos there is more to Las Vegas than meets the eye. There are museums, shows, rollercoaster rides, Star Trek experiences and much, much more.
Morocco is a very popular destination for people who are looking for holidays that are a bit different from what you would normally expect. Anyone who chooses to go on their holidays in Morocco are advised to do some research beforehand because it is a very different culture and their traditions are very different from those in the UK.

The only difficult thing about booking holidays nowadays is deciding where to go. Not only are there so many more options when it comes to booking flights but there are many more destinations that are more accessible than ever before. This means that holiday makers are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to go on their holidays every year.
However, the only problem with this is that it makes it very difficult when it comes to deciding where to go on your holidays every year. There are certain things you can take into consideration when it comes to making a decision which can help you decide where to go.
The first thing to think about is the kind of budget that you have and what you can afford to spend. If you are lucky enough to have saved up a lot of money then you could go on a cruise or on an all inclusive package holiday to some exotic destination in the Caribbean. However, if you prefer your holidays cheap and cheerful then you can go somewhere relaxing such as France or get package holidays to one of the Greek Islands.
Who you are going on holiday with is also very likely to affect where you are going. If you have children then you are going to want to go somewhere where there is plenty for them to do. A perfect example of the ideal place to go if you have children is Disney World in Florida because there is absolutely no chance of children getting bored there. If you are going as a couple you would probably prefer somewhere more romantic such as Italy. Groups of friends are more than likely going to get package holidays to places with excellent nightlife such as Ibiza.
What you are interested in should heavily influence where you go on your holidays. There is no point going somewhere that isn’t going to have activities that you enjoy. For example, if you like sightseeing and finding out the historical and cultural background of a country then you are going to want to go somewhere where there are lots of tourist attractions rather than just bars and clubs.
With so many different kinds of holidays and deals available nowadays it is virtually impossible not to find what you are looking for. Not only does this mean that you will find what you want but you are also likely to get a great deal as well.

One of the Canary Islands situated just 70 miles off the coast of Africa, Lanzarote enjoys hot weather all year round with very little rainfall. This makes it the perfect year – round destination. Especially during the winter months when a little bit of sun is much appreciated.
Activities
If you want to try something a bit different other than the traditional diving, windsurfing, fishing and other water – sports, why not try catamaran sailing? Daily excursions are available from the stylish and sophisticated Puerto Calero Marina on a million dollar catamaran.
Other unique experiences to try out are Submarine Safaris, again available from Puerto Marina, glass bottom boat dolphin tours and other marine excursions.
Nightlife
Although not as lively as some of the other islands, Lanzarote does still offer plenty of nightlife to suit all tastes. Puerto del Carmen has the busiest nightlife on the island with plenty of live music and bars. The main places to go are Centro Atlantico on the Avenida de las Playas and near the Harbour (the Old Town).
For a real taste of Spanish life away from all the tourists, Arrecife is the best place to go. Calle Jose Antonio and the Playa del Reducto are particularly good places to go.
Eating Out
You will never go hungry in Lanzarote with so many different restaurants to choose from. You can have Mexican, Indian, Chinese, Italian and of course, local cuisines. Most of the local dishes are mild and made with local ingredients. Some of the tastiest dishes you will try include Canarian Stew, fish consommé and wrinkled potatoes with a variety of toppings.
Parents can be rest assured that most of the restaurants welcome children with open arms. Children’s menus are almost always available and they are even willing to adapt the menu to keep them happy. As well as this they are frequently treated to a lollipop after their meal.
Where to Stay
Puerto del Carmen is Lanzarote’s main tourist resort. Perfect if you’re looking for somewhere more lively with lots to do. There are plenty of beaches, lots of high quality accommodation and bars to see you through the night.
Costa Teguise is located close to the capital of the island and is another main tourist resort. There is an excellent selection of bars, shops and restaurants so there’s plenty to keep you busy.
Playa Blanca is located on the south of the island and has managed to retain the atmosphere of the small fishing village it once was. This resort is perfect for families and people looking for relaxation.
Attractions
Lanzarote possesses the longest Volcanic Tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel. It is over 7 km long and includes the La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua. This is well worth taking a trip to as it’s not something you are going to find in many other countries. Sticking with the theme of volcanic eruptions, the Timanfaya National Park is a must for people interested in volcanoes. Due to the limited rainfall, the area remains much of the same as it did just after the eruptions with “Martian” landscapes and rare plant species.
The Castillo de San Jose in Arrecife will be of interest to anyone interested in the history of the island. It was built in 1799 to protect the Harbour from Pirate Attack. However, it was never used and has now been converted into a Modern Art Gallery and restaurant.
Other Info
Be aware that in Lanzarote a Nightclub and Discoteca are not the same thing. A nightclub is actually a brothel.
